Prof. Prabal Talukdar is currently working as a Professor (HAG) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Delhi. He is also holding the Chair of Central Electric Authority (CEA) since Jan 2022.

Prior Joining to IITD in 2007, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan (2005-2007), Canada and University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (2002-2005), Germany. He earned his MTech and PhD degree from IIT Guwahati and Bachelor of Engineering from Assam Engineering College. He has been working as a Visiting Professor/Scientists at the University of Freiberg, Germany, and University of Saskatchewan, Canada in the past several years. He also visited several universities in South East Asia as a Guest Professor in the recent past.

Prof. Talukdar currently is an Associate (Lead) Editor of Journal of Enhanced Heat Transfer. He also served as an Associate Editor of ASME Journal of Thermal Sciences and Engineering Applications during 2020-2023. Prof. Talukdar is a leading researcher in the area of heat transfer and has published more than 185 paper in International Journals and Conferences. He has been recently awarded with 2 Indian patents. He has been listed as a top 2% cited scientist published by the Stanford University in the last few years.

Prof. Talukdar has more than 20 years of Teaching and Research experience. Fourteen PhD students have successfully completed their PhDs under his supervision and another seven have been working at present. He has completed more than 15 sponsored research and consultancy projects. His area of interest includes heat transfer through porous media (foams), reheating furnace, continuous casting, thermal protective fabrics, radiative heat transfer in participating media, convective drying, inverse heat transfer, etc.
